Happy family. Top 10 problems of Indian parenting.

This article is based on the top 10 problems of Indian parenting. Indian parents are great but some problems should be acknowledged by every Indian parent. Here, we present you with the top 10 problems of Indian parenting.

Indian parents are more responsible if compared to Western parents. Indian parents take care of their children throughout their lives. While in the Western world, the culture is built around the idea that a child should achieve complete independence by the age of 16-18.

Children should be independent at an early age but they should not be completely separated in the name of independence. According to me, Indian parenting is good but it also has some flaws.

Therefore, we present you with the top 10 problems of Indian parenting.

Over-Possessiveness

Over-possessiveness is the biggest among the top 10 problems of Indian parenting. Possessiveness is good but possessiveness is lethal. Indian parents are caring, possessive, etc. They try their best to teach and create a healthy environment around them. After some time, many parents’ possessiveness changes into over-possessiveness.

Every parent should understand that they are loving their child and their child should grow up by taking up maximum experience. Therefore, parents especially during and after their teenage should behave with their kids more like friends than parents. Due to the over-possessiveness children become secretive and stop sharing things with their parents.

Spoon-Feeding

Another, top 10 problems of Indian parenting is spoon-feeding. Indian parents love to spoon-feed their children for everything in the name of love. Spoon-feeding at a young age is needed but in the end, your child has to become independent. Spoon-feeding or over-pampering only spoils the children. Also, for every small work, they will be dependent on you.

Therefore, always try to help yourself rather than spoon-feeding them.

Academic Pressure

Indian society is more oriented towards academics. This is the reason why parents unknowingly put academic pressure on their children. Encouraging your child to study is important but avoid placing undue pressure on them. Let your child, along with the academics explore different fields and hobbies.

Every child is different and everyone can’t succeed in academics. If you understand, these simple things then these top 10 problems of Indian parenting will no longer be the problem for you and your children.

Comparing your children

As I mentioned earlier every child is unique, so there is no base for comparing your child with others. Imagine your child is comparing you with other parents; how would you feel? Treible, isn’t it? Now think, about how bad your children are feeling, who have 100x times more soft hearts than yours.

Rather than comparing your children with other children, help your children to find their passion and potential. Due to the habit of comparing children, many children suffer from low esteem, anxiety, lack of confidence, etc. Don’t let your child become a victim of them. Comparing children are the biggest top 10 problems of Indian parenting.

Insulting your children publicly

Another, the top 10 problems of Indian parenting is insulting. Public insults leave deep scars on your children. Especially if the insult is made in front of their friends or close relatives. Many parents think that embarrassing their children in front of a crowd will not let their children repeat the same mistake. Things don’t work like that.

Again, all of your actions will ultimately become factors affecting your child’s mental health. Before doing something to your children, always imagine how you feel if someone did the same thing for you.

Technology Addiction

We all have become slaves of technology. Technology addiction is destroying the lives of your children along with you.

These days parents, instead of talking with their children, would love to spend their time on phones. They also provide their children a separate phone; so that they don’t disturb them. All this eventually leads to a lack of communication, lack of trust, etc.

I will always suggest to spend quality time with your kids every day. Ask them about their days, and have fun with them, instead of your phones.

Technology addiction is the most common top 10 problems in Indian parenting.

Teaching them to win

Every parent wants their children to become first in everything. But don’t you think by insisting on this we are keeping them aside from reality?

Don’t keep your child isolated from the real world. Teach them about failures and how to overcome them. Otherwise, they will stop taking risks in their lives, which will eventually lead to less success in life.

Career Expectation

Career expectation is the most dramatic among the top 10 problems in Indian parenting. Always remember that you are the parents of your child and your child’s life is his/her.

Stop forcing your children to choose a career path that you like. Support your children in their passion. Let them create their lives by themselves. Of course, you can keep your expectations in front of them. But in the end, it is their choice to choose the right career for them.

Apologizing and Being Grateful

Do you apologize to your child after doing something wrong with them? Or do you say thank you when they did something special for you?

Most parents don’t apologize or be grateful to their kids. But every parent wants their child to be grateful and apologize.

Your children will never learn these simple practices if you don’t practice them.

Understanding your Children

The major top 10 problems of Indian parenting, is not understanding their children. Understanding your children is the most difficult task, and many parents fail at it. Parents are not able to understand their children due to the generation gap. But this problem can be solved with good communication and friendly nature.

Share good things with your child, share your childhood stories with them and they will do the same. This is the best thing you can practice with your children to understand them more.
